LIST OF BORDER
COLLIES WHO SUFFERED FROM SOME KIND OF
SEIZURES
Below is a list of epileptic Border Collies,
whose owners/breeders have given us consent
to publish this information. Part of the
information comes from public sites.
We thank all those who had the courage to
publish the fact that their border collie
has epilepsy.
At the same time, I would like to point out
that most of the dogs listed below were not
properly diagnosed. Therefore we can´t say
what was the cause of seizures - whether is
it an idiopathic (inherited) epilepsy, or
symptomatic or reactive epilepsy...

EPILEPSY RESEARCH
Currently there is Epilepsy research
running in Finland (in cooperation with
Animal Health Trust from UK), they are
trying to reveal genetic background of
inherited epilepsy in various breeds (including
BCs - they have special part in this
research), If you would like to learn more

For this research there are still needed new
samples from affected dogs (particularly
from lines or "families" where epilepsy
seems to be inherited), their close
relatives (parents, siblings, offspring) and
also from unaffected dogs older than 7 years
(they are needed as controls).
